Job summary

ALTEN is a global engineering and technology consultancy delivering innovative engineering solutions across sectors. The role focuses on providing technical oversight and manufacturing support to fabrication suppliers to ensure compliance with engineering requirements and quality standards.

The successful candidate will act as the technical interface between engineering, quality, project teams and suppliers, driving manufacturing excellence throughout the fabrication lifecycle and resolving

Qualifications

• Significant fabrication and welding experience in heavy engineering or regulated industries.
• Experience supporting fabrication suppliers or manufacturing subcontractors.
• Proven involvement in inspection and testing activities.
• Experience reviewing technical manufacturing documentation.
• Strong background in resolving fabrication and welding-related issues.
• Good understanding of welding codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight and manufacturing support to fabrication suppliers.
• Review and interpret fabrication drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• Support resolution of production and fabrication issues.
• Ensure processes comply with company, customer and industry requirements.
• Participate in manufacturing readiness reviews and technical assessments.
• Provide guidance on welding processes and fabrication techniques.
• Review WPS, PQR and Welder Qualifications.
• Advise suppliers on best practices and process improvements.
• Support root cause investigations for weld defects and non-conformances.
• Ensure inspection and testing activities meet contractual requirements.
• Act as the technical focal point for fabrication suppliers.
• Conduct supplier technical reviews and audits.
• Monitor supplier performance and identify improvements.
• Analyze manufacturing issues and develop practical solutions.
• Present technical findings and improvement proposals to stakeholders.
