Job summary

IES Utilities in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Welding Engineer to act as Responsible Welding Coordinator at the Levenshulme fabrication facility. This senior role provides technical leadership for welding, quality, certification and compliance, driving safe and compliant fabrications.

The successful candidate will lead welding procedures, qualification testing and documentation, ensuring ISO 3834/ISO 1090 and National Gas standards adherence, while supporting tendering and project

Qualifications

• Proven welding engineer experience in utilities, fabrication, manufacturing or energy sectors.
• Experience developing and qualifying welding procedures and welders.
• Strong knowledge of National Gas specs and utility standards.
• Understanding of ISO 3834 and ISO 1090 requirements.
• Experience managing quality systems and certification compliance.
• Leadership of technical teams and support to delivery.

Responsibilities

• Act as Responsible Welding Coordinator for all fabrication activities.
• Develop, qualify and maintain Welding Procedures (WPS) and PQRs.
• Provide welding engineering support across workshop and project ops.
• Review drawings and client specs for manufacturing compliance.
• Manage welder qualification, approval and competency programs.
• Support welding qualification testing and approvals.
• Guide welding processes, materials and fabrication methodologies.
• Lead QA activities and drive continuous improvement in welding quality.
