Job summary

EQUANS UK & Ireland is seeking a Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer (Water) to join our facilities team at Southmead Hospital in Bristol. This permanent full-time role runs Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 15:30 with a 30-minute unpaid break.

The position offers a competitive salary and benefits package. You will supervise the water hygiene team, ensure safe operation and maintenance of water systems across the site, and work to HTM guidelines with the Written Scheme of Control.

Qualifications

• Must hold a recognised mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 in a relevant mechanical discipline; plumbing experience essential.
• Prior supervisory experience is essential.
• Thorough understanding of engineering building services installation and maintenance techniques.
• Good knowledge of M&E testing, fault finding, maintenance, refurbishment and install.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willing to attain cross skilling.
• Ability to read technical drawings and diagnose technical faults.
• Strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• IT literate and committed to personal development.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the water hygiene team delivering maintenance activities as per the Written Scheme of Control in line with the HTM.
• Responsible for safe operation, planned and reactive maintenance of water systems and associated plant/equipment.
• Undertake training and qualify as an Authorised, Responsible Person for Water and Pool Plant Operator.
• Ensure maintenance activities are carried out and discrepancies highlighted.
• Manage, record and analyse water systems maintenance within Zetasafe.
• Oversee specialist sub-contractors and manage contractors, following safe systems of work and permits.
• Ensure PPM and reactive tasks are attended to within contract timescales.
• Work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 07:00-15:30 with alternating shifts 10:00-18:30.
