Job summary

Sweco in Glasgow is recruiting a Senior/Water Quality Modeller to join our Water team. You will develop, calibrate and audit models to assess water quality within sewerage catchments and receiving waters, contributing to AMP8 programs and regulatory submissions.

You will work with clients, regulators and multidisciplinary teams, applying tools such as SIMCAT, SAGIS, InfoWorks ICM and MIKE, and you will be supported to progress toward chartered status.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in water quality and hydrology applied to a range of projects.
• Degree or equivalent in geography, engineering, environmental sciences or maths.
• Strong knowledge of standard modelling software and environmental assessment tools.
• Demonstrate ability to lead and manage projects, delivering against milestones and QA processes.
• Knowledge of Flood Risk Assessment, Natural Flood Management and SuDS techniques.
• Towards chartered status (C.Eng or C.WEM) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Developing, calibrating, auditing and interpreting models to assess water quality performance within sewerage catchments and receiving waters
• Undertaking Urban Pollution Modelling (UPM) studies to identify and investigate water quality issues and compliance risks
• Developing and appraising improvement options to address identified water quality issues, including CSOs and intermittent discharges
• Providing technical assurance and peer review of modelling outputs and reports
• Advising on the selection and application of modelling tools and techniques (SIMCAT, SAGIS, InfoWorks ICM, MIKE, GIS)
• Producing Water Framework Directive (WFD) compliance assessments for environmental submissions
• Designing and supporting Natural Flood Management measures where appropriate
• Preparing technical reports and environmental and water quality impact assessments
