Job summary

Sweco Leeds is recruiting a Senior/Water Quality Modeller to join the Water team. You will develop and audit models to assess water quality, identify failures and risks, and propose improvements across sewerage catchments and receiving waters.

You’ll lead projects, collaborate with regulators and clients, and contribute to WFD compliance and NFM initiatives while developing your technical expertise within a flexible hybrid working model.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in water quality and hydrology applied to projects.
• Degree in geography, engineering, environmental sciences or maths.
• Strong knowledge of standard hydrological and water quality modelling software and environmental assessment tools.
• Ability to lead and manage projects, delivering against milestones and QA strategies.
• Knowledge of Flood Risk Assessment, Natural Flood Management and SuDs techniques.
• Progress towards chartered status (C.Eng or C.WEM).

Responsibilities

• Develop, calibrate, audit and interpret models to assess water quality in sewerage catchments and receiving waters.
• Undertake Urban Pollution Modelling studies to identify water quality failures and risks.
• Develop and appraise improvement options including CSOs and discharges.
• Provide technical assurance and peer review of modelling outputs.
• Advise on modelling tools and techniques (SIMCAT, SAGIS, InfoWorks ICM, MIKE, GIS).
• Produce WFD compliance assessments to support regulatory submissions.
• Design and support delivery of Natural Flood Management measures where appropriate.
• Prepare technical reports and environmental/water quality impact assessments.
