Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Principal Process Engineer to shape the future of the UK water industry. You will lead complex water treatment projects, provide strategic technical direction, and drive innovations across AMP8 and beyond.

Based at Reading with hybrid working, 36 hours per week (Mon–Fri). You will mentor engineers, oversee design partner outputs, ensure regulatory compliance, and raise engineering performance across multi-disciplinary teams. Comprehensive benefits available.

Qualifications

• Significant process engineering experience within the water sector.
• Strong track record leading complex engineering projects.
• Chartered Engineer status or clear progression towards chartership.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and technical assurance of complex water schemes.
• Provide expert process engineering support to operations and delivery programmes.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and asset standards.
• Act as technical authority through project lifecycles to commissioning and handover.
• Mentor and develop a team of engineers.
• Review outputs from design partners for technical excellence.
