Job summary

COWI is seeking a Senior Design Engineer with a water utilities background to deliver design work for water supply and wastewater projects. You will work on pressurised mains, pumping stations, and treatment works, collaborating with UK and international teams on civil, mechanical, and MEICA disciplines.

The role emphasises design excellence, experience with hydraulic modelling, and adherence to CDM2015. Hybrid working arrangements are available within a global engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil or mechanical engineering (required).
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards Chartership with a recognised institution.
• Experience in civil/structural or mechanical systems design for water sector.
• Solid understanding of pressurised water systems and pumping stations.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design of projects for UK water sector clients.
• Plan design work and deliverables with civils and MEICA teams.
• Develop and technically assure designs using relevant software and calculations.
• Ensure compliance with local and international standards.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary interfaces (civil, mechanical, electrical, process).
• Mentor junior team members and support graduate engineers.
• Build relationships with clients and stakeholders; act as technical link to senior leads.
