Job description

As a vital member of our warehouse team at Borehamwood, you will be providing a professional service receiving and despatching a range of consumable items to ensure we are able to collect, process, and issue Blood and Blood products on time. The role will involve tasks to assist the warehouse manager in the smooth operation of the warehouse and responsibilities for picking customer orders accurately with a clear understanding of FIFO, LIFO, and lot number control. You will also input stock and non-stock items into the computerized warehouse system and manually handle stock following good manual handling techniques.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will assist the Warehouse Manager in all aspects of efficient and effective warehouse management, contributing to optimizing the NHSBT supply chain. Your responsibilities include:

1. Day-to-day operation of the warehouse
2. Allocating staff to work areas based on activity levels
3. Receiving and booking orders into the stock control system
4. Responding to customer and supplier requirements to minimize service disruptions and updating customers on progress
5. Ensuring safe and smooth warehouse activities and raising concerns with the Warehouse Manager
6. Deputising for the Warehouse Manager as required

Qualifications

• GCSE level education or equivalent
• Fork Lift Truck operator training
• Willingness to undertake ongoing training

Experience

• Warehouse environment experience
• Customer and supplier interaction experience
• Mechanical handling equipment knowledge, e.g., forklift
• Understanding of warehouse procedures
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
