Job summary

CBS Butler is seeking a Senior VMware/VCF Infrastructure Engineer to join a major UK defence programme based in Reading with hybrid work (2 days on site). You will design, implement and migrate enterprise VMware infrastructure, focusing on VCF and NSX in secure environments, and drive an on-premise to cloud migration.

You will lead infrastructure transformation and SDDC initiatives, delivering robust, scalable solutions for mission-critical systems.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) is essential.
• Experience across vSphere/ESXi/vCenter and NSX/NSX-T in security-sensitive environments.
• Proven ability to design and implement VMware infrastructure and migrations.
• Experience transforming on-premise to cloud within enterprise environments.

Job title: Senior VMware/VCF Infrastructure Engineer

Rate: Up to £650 per day inside IR35

Location: Reading/Hybrid - 2 days per week onsite

Contract: 6-month rolling contract

I'm recruiting for a Senior VMware/VCF Infrastructure Engineer to join a major UK defence programme supporting a high-profile submarine project.

This is a genuinely interesting infrastructure transformation programme, centred around a significant on-premise to cloud migration, with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and NSX at the heart of the solution. We're looking for someone who can design, implement and migrate enterprise VMware infrastructure and is comfortable working on complex, security-sensitive environments.

Expereince required:

You'll need strong, hands-on experience across:

• VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) - essential
• VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter
• NSX/NSX-T
• VMware infrastructure design & implementation
• On-premise to cloud migration
• Infrastructure transformation/SDDC
• vSAN, HCX and/or VMware Aria would be highly desirable
