Job summary

Summer Browning is seeking a Senior VMware Engineer to support a central government client. This position offers East Kilbride (Glasgow) or London with hybrid work and requires an active security clearance and a strong VMware/Virtualisation background.

Ideal candidates will manage VMware platforms, upgrades, migrations, lifecycle programs and ensure security/compliance while operating within agile, project-oriented government delivery environments.

Senior VMware Engineer

Summer-Browning Associates is currently supporting our central government client, who is seeking a Senior VMware Engineer for an initial 6 assignments with the option to extend.

Location:

East Kilbride (Glasgow) or London / Hybrid

The ideal candidate will have an active security clearance and a strong VMware/Virtualisation Engineering background in a high-threat government environment.

Skills and Experience:

• Comprehensive hands-on experience in administering and supporting technologies including VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), VSAN, NSX, PowerCLI, server hardware, and Aria.


• A thorough understanding of enterprise virtualization, data center infrastructure, and hybrid hosting environments.


• Proven experience in managing VMware platform upgrades, migrations, lifecycle management, and transformation programs.


• Strong knowledge of VMware infrastructure security, including platform hardening, patch management, and compliance requirements.


• Familiarity with virtual networking concepts and infrastructure integration processes.


• Advanced proficiency in PowerShell and PowerCLI scripting.


• Demonstrated experience in implementing automation and operational improvement initiatives.


• Experience working within Agile delivery frameworks and project-oriented environments.
