Job summary

NHS Scotland’s Scottish Ambulance Service is recruiting a Master Craftsperson (Vehicle Technician) based in Motherwell at the Fleet Workshop. The role is 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with weekend on-call on a rota and possible shifts at other workshops.

A day shift 08:00–16:00 with overtime on offer. You will join a skilled team reporting to the Workshop Chargehand, with specialist training provided to service a wide range of emergency vehicles and equipment.

Qualifications

• Qualified Vehicle Technician with maintenance and repair experience on cars and light commercials.
• Automotive apprenticeship completed; NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Experience in a health and safety-focused, demanding workshop environment.
• Ability to deliver high-quality support with minimal supervision to frontline colleagues.
• Sound knowledge of vehicle diagnostics.
• Knowledge of electrical systems and tail lift repairs is advantageous.
• Familiar with using internet and email in daily work.
• Holding a full driving licence with C1 entitlement or ability to obtain within 12 months.
