Job summary

VIQU is partnering with an automotive-focused organisation to recruit a Mechanical Cabin Design Engineer for hands-on ownership of interior systems from concept to production. The role emphasizes safety-critical design, compliance with ECE regulations, and manufacturability across dash, trim, doors, floors and seating.

The successful candidate will leverage SolidWorks/CATIA/NX for detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings, coordinate with tooling and production teams, and guide material

Qualifications

• Experience in automotive or vehicle cab interior design.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, NX).
• Knowledge of ABS, PP, GRP, rubber, fabric, foam and sheet metal.
• Experience with vacuum forming, compression moulding, injection moulding and 3D printing.
• Understanding of tooling, A/B surfaces and surface finish requirements.
• Working knowledge of ECE R29, R14, R16 and R17.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop dash and trim panels.
• Develop vehicle cab door systems.
• Design floor systems and mats.
• Develop seating and anchorage systems.
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Work with tooling, manufacturing teams and suppliers.
• Support prototype builds, testing and validation.
• Lead material selection across performance, cost and durability.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant ECE regulations.
• Improve existing interior components.
