Job summary

VIQU has partnered with an engineering-focused organisation to recruit a Cab Interior Design Engineer in Leamington Spa. This hands-on role owns safety-critical interior systems from concept to production with a strong focus on compliance and manufacturability.

You will design dash/trim panels, cab doors, seating anchorage and floor systems, and produce detailed 3D CAD models and drawings while collaborating with tooling, manufacturing and supplier teams to support prototypes and validation.

Qualifications

• Automotive interior design experience.
• Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks/CATIA/NX).
• Familiar with interior materials and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with safety/regulatory requirements (ECE).

Responsibilities

VIQU has partnered with an engineering-focused organisation developing advanced vehicle cab systems to recruit a Cab Interior Design Engineer. This is a hands‑on role taking ownership of safety‑critical interior systems from concept through to production, with a strong focus on compliance, manufacturability and practical engineering.

Key Responsibilities of the Cab Interior Design Engineer

• Design and develop dash and trim panels.
• Develop vehicle cab door systems.
• Design floor systems and mats.
• Develop seating and anchorage systems.
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Work with tooling, manufacturing teams and suppliers.
• Support prototype builds, testing and validation.
• Lead material selection across performance, cost and durability.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant ECE regulations.
• Improve existing interior components.

Key Requirements of the Cab Interior Design Engineer

• Proven automotive or vehicle cab interior design experience.
• Strong 3D CAD capability using SolidWorks, CATIA, NX or similar.
• Knowledge of ABS, PP, GRP, rubber, fabric, foam and sheet metal.
• Experience with vacuum forming, compression moulding, injection moulding and 3D printing.
• Understanding of tooling, A/B surfaces and surface finish requirements.
• Working knowledge of ECE R29, R14, R16 and R17.
• Comfortable working cross‑functionally in an engineering‑led environment.
• Hands‑on experience taking designs from concept towards production.
