Job summary

VIQU Limited is recruiting a Cab Interior Design Engineer for an engineering-focused organisation crafting advanced vehicle cab systems. The role involves ownership of safety-critical interior components from concept to production, with emphasis on compliance, manufacturability and practical engineering.

The role focuses on hands-on design of dash, trim, doors, floors, seating and anchorage systems, producing 3D CAD models and detailed drawings, and collaborating with tooling and manufacturing

Qualifications

• Automotive or vehicle cab interior design experience.
• Strong 3D CAD skills with SolidWorks, CATIA, or NX.
• Knowledge of ABS, PP, GRP, rubber, fabric, foam and sheet metal.
• Experience with tooling, surface finishes and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop dash and trim panels for cab interiors.
• Develop vehicle cab door and floor systems.
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings.
• Support prototype builds, testing and validation, and supplier engagement.
• Lead material selection balancing performance, cost and durability.

Cab Interior Design Engineer

Leamington Spa | 3 days per week in the office

£45,000 - £55,000

VIQU has partnered with an engineering-focused organisation developing advanced vehicle cab systems to recruit a Cab Interior Design Engineer. This is a hands-on role taking ownership of safety-critical interior systems from concept through to production, with a strong focus on compliance, manufacturability and practical engineering.

Key Responsibilities of the Cab Interior Design Engineer

• Design and develop dash and trim panels.
• Develop vehicle cab door systems.
• Design floor systems and mats.
• Develop seating and anchorage systems.
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Work with tooling, manufacturing teams and suppliers.
• Support prototype builds, testing and validation.
• Lead material selection across performance, cost and durability.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant ECE regulations.
• Improve existing interior components.

Key Requirements of the Cab Interior Design Engineer

• Proven automotive or vehicle cab interior design experience.
• Strong 3D CAD capability using SolidWorks, CATIA, NX or similar.
• Knowledge of ABS, PP, GRP, rubber, fabric, foam and sheet metal.
• Experience with vacuum forming, compression moulding, injection moulding and 3D printing.
• Understanding of tooling, A/B surfaces and surface finish requirements.
• Working knowledge of ECE R29, R14, R16 and R17.
• Comfortable working cross-functionally in an engineering-led environment.
• Hands-on experience taking designs from concept towards production.
