Job summary

Autograph Recruitment in Bridgend is seeking an experienced Accountant to join a growing accountancy practice. You will oversee VAT compliance across a varied client portfolio and work closely with a junior team member to ensure VAT returns are prepared accurately and submitted on time.

You will also prepare year-end accounts, corporation tax returns, self-assessment tax returns and support clients with day-to-day accounting requirements.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years' experience working within an accountancy practice.
• Strong VAT knowledge and practical experience
• Experience preparing accounts and tax returns
• Proficiency with Xero, QuickBooks and Sage
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• A proactive and client-focused approach

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation and submission of VAT returns
• Support and work alongside a junior team member within the VAT function
• Prepare year-end accounts for sole traders and limited companies
• Prepare corporation tax computations and returns
• Prepare self-assessment tax returns
• Respond to client queries and provide ongoing support
• Maintain accurate bookkeeping records and reconciliations where required
• Work across a range of software including Xero, QuickBooks and Sage
