Job summary

Tyréns Hilson Moran is seeking a Principal or Associate Utilities Consultant to join the Infrastructure and Environment Group in London. You will drive planning, design and procurement of multi-utility and energy networks for high-profile developments.

You will mentor junior staff, lead progress meetings, and manage costs and profitability while working across utilities, water and civil disciplines.

Qualifications

• Experience with planning, managing, and delivering utilities infrastructure for major development projects.
• Understanding of utilities costs, programmes, and risks.
• Experience working with commercial and/or residential developers and utility operators.
• Familiarity with planning processes and RIBA Stages.

Responsibilities

• Together with Associate Directors and Directors meet with developers/landowners to understand development needs and develop proposals.
• Consult with wider design team to understand opportunities, risks and costs and advise accordingly.
• Maintain and enhance client and design team relationships through regular reporting and communication.
• Develop utility designs directly and via third parties and coordinate with in-house CAD technicians to support groundworks tender.
• Procure services of specialist contractors and undertakers by developing scopes and specifications as part of Employers Requirements.
• Manage delivery of utility enabling and new connection works often alongside third-party practices.
• Report progress to client and issue instructions to contractors.
• Lead utilities progress meetings to advance works.
• Review as-constructed data and closeout or reconcile final costs.
• Understand project costs and profitability through timesheets.
• Occasionally manage interdisciplinary projects including MEP and other disciplines.
• Mentor and develop junior staff.
