Job summary

Medway NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Consultant Upper GI Surgeon to join the Division of Surgery and Anaesthetics. The post involves benign UGI procedures and on-call duties, with a 10 PA plan averaging 8.5 PAs for DCC plus on-call time.

The appointment is permanent, full-time, with emphasis on teaching, audit and leadership. A structured job plan and annual reviews are part of the role, including on-call schedules and governance meetings.

Qualifications

Full GMC Registration with licence to practice.
MRCP.
Higher degree (MD, PhD or equivalent) desirable but not essential.
On the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT/CESR.
General training in Geriatric Medicine to specialist level.
Experience teaching doctors-in-training and undergraduates.
Experience in clinical audit.
Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Formal Job Plan agreed within three months of commencement.
Job Plan reviewed annually; covers clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial duties.
Includes personal objectives and required support.
First three months plan agreed between appointee and Directorate.
Annual review after appraisal and ongoing governance meetings.
On-call duties and weekend arrangements as per rota.
