Job summary

Indra Group UK & Ireland is seeking a Senior Unix Engineer in Redhill on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role focuses on deploying and stabilising Unix/Linux platforms, with emphasis on Oracle Solaris, SPARC, ZFS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

You will lead transition activities, drive operational readiness, and provide 3rd-line support across a large-scale ticketing and data infrastructure project. Strong ITIL practices and knowledge transfer are essential.

Qualifications

• Senior Unix/Linux Administration (Oracle Solaris & Red Hat Enterprise Linux).
• Solaris SPARC, Solaris Zones and ZFS Administration.
• 3rd Line Unix/Linux Infrastructure Support.
• Service Transition, Operational Readiness and Early Life Support.
• Unix/Linux Troubleshooting, Shell Scripting and Root Cause Analysis.
• Backup, Disaster Recovery and High Availability.
• ITIL Service Management (Incident, Problem and Change Management).
• Knowledge Transfer and Operational Documentation.

Responsibilities

• Mobilisation and transition readiness for Unix/Solaris projects.
• Knowledge transfer, shadowing and operational readiness activities.
• Operate and maintain enterprise Unix platforms (Oracle Solaris, Red Hat).
• Senior escalation point for complex incidents and RCA.
• Create/update SOPs, runbooks and support guides.
• Validate monitoring, backup, recovery and HA arrangements.
