Duties and Responsibilities
  • Underwrite and grow a portfolio of Technology and Media E&O accounts incorporating both primary and excess layer business.
  • Both Standalone E&O and E&O/Cyber blended basis of cover.
  • Help develop and evolve underwriting strategy and appetite for Technology and Media E&O business alongside the Senior Vice President – Errors & Omissions.
  • Active role in new business development and marketing.
  • Attend client / broker meetings, lunches, dinners and other social engagements.
  • Meet regularly with key brokers to discuss production, new business pipelining and other topics relative to divisional operations.
  • Perform extensive account analysis according to underwriting guidelines, to include thorough review of underwriting application / submission, research, reviewing requested terms and conditions including underlying policy forms when issuing on a follow‑form basis, underwriting rating tools.
  • Perform referrals (as required) with Senior Vice President Errors & Omissions.
  • Maintain underwriting files in an orderly manner and in accordance with the underwriting guidelines.
  • Liaise with actuarial support to develop premium benchmarking and pricing models, with development of account pricing / recommendations.
  • Authorise quotes and assist in the process of booking bound business in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Assist in the reporting of portfolio composition and performance.
  • Liaise with Claims Department on any specific claim activity and overall market claim concerns which could potentially affect profitability.
  • Stay current with respect to major industry issues and developments. Attend important industry conferences and seminars as appropriate.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years demonstrable experience in the Errors and Omissions / Technology E&O / Cyber business lines.
  • In‑depth working knowledge of standard market policy and endorsement wordings.
  • Excellent analytical skills and solid knowledge of pricing & actuarial models and methods.
  • Must be highly articulate, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills required for daily liaison with clients and brokers, including delivering effective presentations and building strong working relationships.
  • Strong marketing and business development capability and commercial acumen. Must have the ability to influence and negotiate to various levels of seniority, internally and externally.
  • Highly computer literate within MS Office applications.
  • Methodical approach to work, strong organization skills; capable of dealing with tight reporting deadlines and conflicting priorities.
  • Overall team player with collaborative outlook and ability to coach and develop more junior members of the team.
