I am currently recruiting for a leading Lloyd's Syndicate seeking a Senior Underwriter to join their growing Casualty Treaty team.

My client is looking for an experienced Casualty Treaty Underwriter with 10+ years of experience, covering either International or US business, with a focus on the US market. This role is within a pure Syndicate environment managing a book of over $200m. The ideal candidate will possess strong exposure, pricing knowledge, and a solid understanding of the Casualty Reinsurance (RI) space.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support the development and execution of the portfolio's business plan.
2. Participate in meetings to share insights, develop strategies, and promote best practices.
3. Represent the department and company to enhance brand reputation.
4. Implement reinsurance strategies to safeguard the portfolio.
5. Conduct complex underwriting activities in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
6. Adhere to underwriting standards, guidelines, and best practices to mitigate risk and improve efficiency.
7. Accurately record and assess insurance risks, including Delegated Underwriting Authorities (DUA), and develop or revise policy wordings as necessary.
8. Apply reinsurance requirements to manage risk and meet business targets.
9. Serve as a technical expert to identify issues and opportunities within your area of expertise.
10. Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders such as clients, brokers, and partners.
11. Support market associations and trade organizations.
12. Stay informed on market trends and cycles to enhance business performance.
13. Continuously develop technical expertise through relevant learning opportunities.
14. Underwrite complex risks aligned with the business plan and delegated authority, including negotiating rates, terms, and conditions, ensuring compliance, and contributing to credit control.
15. Review and analyze the portfolio to track progress toward business objectives.
16. Ensure thorough peer review of all risks and compliance with underwriting standards and authority.
