Job summary

American Express is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join the Colleague Servicing Team in the UK. The role focuses on delivering accurate, compliant UK payroll with significant data analysis and a high level of independence.

You will manage complex payroll datasets, validate outputs, and ensure timely submissions while maintaining strong controls and adherence to UK tax and employment legislation. Collaboration with internal partners and vendors is essential.

Qualifications

• Hands-on UK payroll experience with tax and statutory requirements.
• Knowledge of UK payroll legislation, PAYE, NI and employment law.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of key UK payroll activities and ensure accurate, timely delivery.
• Process and validate complex UK payroll data including changes, benefits, and inputs.
• Perform detailed reconciliations, validations and variance analysis.
• Manage UK payroll returns, reporting and data requirements.
• Support Modified Payroll with appropriate controls and knowledge.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure smooth payroll operations.
• Prepare payroll reports and analytics to support governance and month-end/year-end close.
