Job summary

HPRtalent is seeking a Payroll Manager to own end-to-end payroll operations on a remote basis with occasional UK travel. The role handles mixed monthly and weekly paid staff, works with HR and Finance, and ensures accurate, timely payments and strict compliance using Moorepay as the core platform.

The successful candidate will possess deep UK payroll knowledge, strong systems capability, and the ability to manage multiple pay groups while maintaining data integrity and audit trails.

Qualifications

• Significant hands-on UK payroll experience in multi-site or service-led org
• Strong practical experience of Moorepay is essential
• Thorough knowledge of PAYE, NI, RTI, statutory payments and auto-enrolment
• Experience with complex or variable payrolls and multiple pay elements
• Payroll reconciliation and control experience across HR and Finance
• Experience producing payroll journals, management reports and audit evidence
• Strong Excel capability for high-volume payroll data
• Desirable: CIPP qualification or equivalent payroll qualification

Responsibilities

• Own the complete payroll cycle from data collection to payment and post-payroll reconciliation
• Establish and manage payroll calendar, cut-off timetable and control framework
• Process starters, leavers, salary changes, overtime, bonuses and deductions
• Ensure tax codes, NI, student loans and other deductions are applied correctly
• Review outputs for anomalies and variances before final approval
• Coordinate final payroll sign-off with stakeholders and file documentation
• Manage corrections, advances and off-cycle payments securely
• Oversee year-end activity including P60s and outputs
• Act as internal subject-matter expert for Moorepay
• Maintain payroll data in line with UK GDPR and security policies
