Job summary

Sheffield City Council is seeking a Principal Transport Planner to lead a team delivering transport strategies, policies and programmes to support growth and sustainable mobility in the city. You will manage senior stakeholder engagement, shape transport solutions, and influence decision making within a complex political environment, across walking, cycling, EV charging, parking and ITS priorities.

Qualifications

Experience developing and delivering transport strategy, policy or programmes.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Experience managing complex projects and competing priorities.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership building abilities.
Ability to influence decision making within a complex political and organisational environment.
A relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

Lead a team responsible for developing and delivering transport strategies, policies and programmes.
Manage and support a team of transport professionals, work closely with senior stakeholders and elected members.
Shape transport solutions that improve connectivity, support regeneration and enhance quality of life.
Oversee priority areas including walking, wheeling and cycling, EV charging, parking, ITS and broader transport policy.
