There is a very exciting opportunity to join the established team in planning and delivery of the LEVI funding and Portsmouth's Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategy, and our ambitious plans to expand the city's chargepoint network to support Portsmouth's residents, commuters, visitors and transport and fleet operators in the transition to electric vehicles.

Your new role

Portsmouth is at the forefront of the transition to cleaner, greener transport. With over 38,000 electric vehicles forecast across the city by 2034 and with over three million of Government LEVI funding secured, this is an exciting opportunity to help shape Portsmouth's electric vehicle charging network and support the city's journey towards a more sustainable future.

As a Senior Transport Planner within our Transport Planning Team, you will play a key role in developing and delivering electric vehicle infrastructure projects and policies that improve air quality and support sustainable transport across the city. You will work with colleagues, residents, elected members, government departments and external partners to turn strategic ambitions into practical solutions.

What you'll need to succeed

We are looking for someone who is passionate about sustainable transport and can combine strategic thinking with practical project delivery.

You will have:

Local Government Reorganisation (LGR)

As part of Local Government Reorganisation, current plans will see Portsmouth City Council combine with the district and borough councils of Fareham, Gosport and Havant and parts of East Hampshire and Winchester district councils to form a new, larger unitary authority for south east Hampshire.

We are working towards an implementation date of 1st April 2028, known as vesting day, subject to Parliamentary

approval. Until then, we remain focused on maintaining continuity, supporting our workforce, and continuing to deliver excellent services to our residents throughout the transition to the new unitary authority.
