Senior Transport Planner

Location: Cambridge

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 – Depends On Experience

An independent transport planning and engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Transport Planner to join their team of 8 transport planners in Cambridge city centre.

Role overview:

• Engage in all aspects of transport planning, traffic, and transportation engineering, including preparing Transport Assessments for new developments and advising on transport aspects of development master planning.
• Manage smaller projects and provide professional and technical support to directors on larger projects.
• Proficient in using and analyzing data from various transportation software packages.
• Attend meetings, presentations, public consultation events, and undertake site visits as part of your role.

Client base:

The consultancy mainly serves private sector clients. Projects include:

• Medium to large warehouses
• Residential developments from 200-500 units up to 10,000 units
• Commercial developments
• Food retailers
• Leisure projects

Skills & experience required:

• Experience with the Planning Regulatory framework and knowledge of planning and transport policy related to development.
• Technical experience with relevant software such as TRANSYT, LINSIG, ARCADY, PICADY.
• Knowledge of highway standards, including DMRB and Manual for Streets.
• Ability to work to deadlines and independently when needed.
• Effective communication skills, both written and oral, with all levels of staff and clients.
• Proven track record in transport planning, traffic modeling, and assessment programs.
• Experience with a range of transport planning solutions for public and private sectors.
• Experience working in or with a multi-disciplinary design consultancy.
