Job summary

Great Bear is recruiting a Senior Transport Planner for the Minworth site on a full-time permanent basis. The role focuses on planning transport operations, ensuring service levels and regulatory compliance, with a salary of £40,128 per annum.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. You will coordinate driver and vehicle resources, monitor deliveries, and communicate with the planning team and customer services to optimise operations.

Qualifications

• Significant transport experience in FMCG.
• Strong planning and numeracy skills.
• Ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
• Team player and capable of working independently.
• Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and drivers’ hours.
• Professional, approachable and helpful to ensure smooth operation.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the Transport day operation to meet service levels.
• Optimize resource and adherence of WTD & drivers’ hours legislation.
• Plan driver and vehicle resources to meet delivery/collection times.
• Communicate with the Planning team and other depots.
• Provide 24/7 transport link with Customer Services and Sales Order Processing.
• Monitor retailer arrivals/departures and ensure timely deliveries.
• Arrange deliveries using nominated contractors for special instructions.
• Communicate changes or failures to the original plan.
• Log and report accidents, incidents and near misses.
• Liaise and plan drivers for meetings/courses as required.

Our Minworth site are now recruiting for a Senior Transport Planner to join their friendly team on a full time permanent basis.

Salary: £40,128 per annum.

Working hours: Monday- Friday, 9am-5pm.

As a Senior Transport Planner you will support the site operation with planning transport taking into account WTD & EU regulations and compliance legalities.

Key Duties of a Senior Transport Planner:

• Managing and overseeing the Transport day operation, ensuring that service levels are achieved and maintained.
• Optimising resource and adherence of WTD & drivers’ hours legislation.
• Planning driver and vehicle resource to achieve delivery / collection times, creating and updating daily run summary.
• Effectively communicating with the Planning team and other depots.
• Providing 24/7 communication Transport link with Customer Services and Sales Order Processing.
• Monitoring retailer arrival and departure times, ensuring deliveries are made within the specified windows.
• Finding the best fit solution for customer collections, adhering to collection times.
• Arranging deliveries using nominated contractors for special instruction deliveries, re-deliveries.
• Communicating any potential failures or changes to the original plan.
• Ensuring all accidents, incidents and near misses are logged and reported.
• Liaising and planning drivers in for meetings / courses as required.

Qualifications

• Significant transport experience in FMCG environment.
• Planning and organising skills, high level of numeracy.
• Effectively prioritise work load in order to meet set deadlines.
• Able to work as part of a team or individually.
• Have knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers’ hours.
• Be professional, approachable and helpful to ensure smooth running of the general operation.
