Job summary

GXO Logistics is seeking an Assistant Transport General Manager to support the Screwfix Distribution Network. You will lead the site team, drive operational excellence, and partner with unions to foster a high-performing culture. Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00, 37.5 hours per week, with a salary up to £70K DOE.

You will oversee 170+ units, 480+ trailers, 250 drivers and multiple contractors, ensuring service, safety and cost targets are met, while leveraging GXO University and wellbeing initiatives.

Qualifications

• Proven fleet/transport leadership experience.
• CPC qualification with full UK driving licence.
• Commercial mindset with budgeting, project and change management experience.
• Ability to develop and lead high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day site operations and a large transport network.
• Develop and implement robust processes to meet service, cost and quality targets.
• Manage over 170 units, 480 trailers, 250 drivers, and multiple partners.
• Collaborate with unions and stakeholders to drive engagement.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
