Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Consultant or Senior Consultant Transport Modeller to join the UK Transport Modelling team. You will deliver technical modelling tasks for diverse clients and develop robust VISSIM microsimulation studies across public and private sectors.

You will calibrate and validate models, work with signal timing data and contribute to project appraisals, business cases and transport strategies while mentoring junior modellers in a collaborative, hybrid-work environment.

Qualifications

• Degree or higher in a relevant field (Transport Planning, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Geography or Statistics).
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Practical experience developing, calibrating, validating or applying VISSIM models.
• Knowledge of strategic transport modelling, calibration, validation and forecasting.
• Experience delivering modelling projects for public and/or private sector clients.
• Strong report-writing and communication skills; able to explain technical findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Deliver technical modelling tasks for a range of clients, supporting junior team members.
• Develop, calibrate, validate and apply VISSIM microsimulation transport models.
• Work with signal timing data and control strategies; assess junctions with LinSig, TRANSYT, UTC/SCOOT, MOVA or similar tools.
• Use modelling outputs to support project appraisal, scheme development and strategic decision-making.
• Undertake transport forecasting, scenario testing and option appraisal.
• Communicate modelling results through reports, presentations and client discussions.
