Job summary

The Francis Crick Institute is seeking a Senior Laboratory Research Scientist to lead transgenic line engineering in Hofstenia and oversee animal care within our Chandra Lab. The role focuses on advancing brain evolution research and building a cutting-edge experimental platform.

You will work under the Chandra group leader, drive transgenics-based research, manage lab operations, and contribute to high-impact publications in a collaborative environment with access to world-class facilities.

Qualifications

• PhD in molecular biology or a related field required.
• Experience with embryo microinjection is essential.
• Ability to lead projects and work both independently and within a team.
• Experience with marine invertebrates or non-model species desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects on engineering transgenic lines in Hofstenia and other acoel species.
• Generate and maintain stable transgenic lines.
• Provide animal care and maintain healthy Hofstenia cultures.
• Set up and organise the wet lab; onboard lab members.
• Manage reagents, consumables, and equipment; maintain inventory.
• Contribute to writing papers and collaborate within and outside the lab.
• Lead and shape the direction of the research program.
