Job summary

Vivid Resourcing Ltd has partnered with a Midlands-based planning consultancy to recruit a Senior Town Planner in Birmingham. You will manage a varied portfolio of planning projects, liaise with private-sector clients and landowners, and provide commercially focused planning advice.

The role covers strategic land, residential development and mixed-use schemes, with opportunities to lead on complex schemes, mentor junior team members and contribute to business development.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within a planning consultancy or private-sector environment.
• A relevant degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.
• MRTPI or be working towards chartership.
• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system.
• Experience managing planning projects and dealing directly with clients.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
• The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Managing planning applications from inception through to determination.
• Providing planning advice to private-sector clients and landowners.
• Working on strategic land, residential and mixed-use development projects.
• Preparing planning appraisals, reports and supporting documentation.
• Developing planning strategies for complex development proposals.
• Liaising with local planning authorities, stakeholders and statutory consultees.
• Coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
• Attending client meetings and taking responsibility for key client relationships.
• Supporting and mentoring more junior members of the team.
• Contributing to business development and identifying new opportunities.
