Vivid Resourcing Ltd is seeking a Senior Town Planner in Birmingham to join an established planning consultancy. You will manage a varied portfolio, provide commercially focused planning advice to clients and progress towards associate leadership.

Key responsibilities include managing planning applications, liaising with authorities, and mentoring junior team members, with a focus on strategic land and mixed-use developments.

Qualifications

• Experience in planning consultancy or private-sector environment.
• Degree in Town Planning or related discipline.
• MRTPI or working towards chartership.
• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system.
• Experience managing planning projects and direct client contact.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Commercially minded with an independent working style.

Responsibilities

• Managing planning applications from inception through to determination.
• Providing planning advice to private-sector clients and landowners.
• Working on strategic land, residential and mixed-use development projects.
• Preparing planning appraisals, reports and supporting documentation.
• Developing planning strategies for complex development proposals.
• Liaising with local planning authorities, stakeholders and statutory consultees.
• Coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
• Attending client meetings and taking responsibility for key client relationships.
• Supporting and mentoring more junior members of the team.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Town Planner to join an established and growing independent planning, design and environmental consultancy in Birmingham.

The business works across a diverse range of projects throughout the UK, with a strong focus on strategic land, residential development, new communities, regeneration, commercial development and mixed-use schemes.

The Role

As a Senior Town Planner, you will be involved in managing a varied portfolio of planning projects and providing commercially focused planning advice to clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing planning applications from inception through to determination.
• Providing planning advice to private-sector clients and landowners.
• Working on strategic land, residential and mixed-use development projects.
• Preparing planning appraisals, reports and supporting documentation.
• Developing planning strategies for complex development proposals.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience within a planning consultancy or private-sector environment.
• A relevant degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.
• MRTPI or be working towards chartership.
• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system.
• Experience managing planning projects and dealing directly with clients.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
• The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• A commercially minded approach.
• The confidence to work independently while contributing to a wider team.
