Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd seeks a Senior Town Planner to join its Sheffield team. You will lead a varied portfolio of planning projects, provide high-quality advice, and coordinate applications from feasibility to determination.

The role requires RTPI-accredited education, chartership or progress toward it, and strong UK planning knowledge. You will manage multidisciplinary teams, liaise with authorities, and contribute to business development while mentoring junior staff in a collaborative

Qualifications

• Degree in Town Planning or related RTPI-accredited field.
• RTPI chartership or working towards chartership.
• Significant experience in planning consultancy, developer, or local authority.
• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and development management.
• Experience managing planning applications from inception to determination.
• Experience with complex or high-profile development schemes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a varied portfolio of planning projects.
• Provide high-quality planning advice to clients across sectors.
• Develop and implement planning strategies for complex proposals.
• Coordinate planning applications from feasibility to submission and determination.
• Prepare and review planning reports, statements, and technical docs.
• Liaise with local planning authorities and stakeholders.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and keep projects on programme.
• Build relationships with clients and support business development.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to firm success.
