Job summary

MorePeople seeks an experienced Senior Town Planner to join a well-established property and surveying practice in Horley. You will lead on pre-application work, planning applications and appeals, advising clients and internal teams on strategy while collaborating with colleagues across commercial, rural, land and agency departments.

This role offers ownership of a varied project portfolio, progression opportunities and exposure at committees, consultations and stakeholder meetings.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years' experience in planning, ideally within consultancy or a developer environment.
• Chartered RTPI member, or currently working towards chartership.
• Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation, policy and guidance.
• Proven experience managing projects through the planning process, including applications and appeals.
• Ability to build strong client and stakeholder relationships.
• Commercial awareness and strong project management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a car for business use.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage pre-application work, planning applications and appeals across multiple projects.
• Oversee external consultants and specialist advisors where required.
• Advise clients and internal teams on planning strategy, development opportunities and planning risks.
• Assess planning risks and opportunities during site acquisition and feasibility stages.
• Monitor planning policy changes, local plans and legislative updates relevant to the business.
• Represent the company at planning committees, public consultations and stakeholder meetings.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with planning officers, consultants, clients and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to business development and the wider growth strategy of the planning team.
