Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Senior Planner / Associate Planner to join their growing planning team in Tunbridge Wells. You will work with clients and consultants to deliver planning solutions from site appraisal through to applications, appeals and conditions.

The role offers hybrid working, exposure to high-profile projects, and clear progression to Chartered status with RTPI membership support. Applicants should have planning experience, qualifications, and strong report writing and deadlines

Senior Planner / Associate Planner

Are you an experienced Senior Planner / Associate Planner looking to take the next step in your career? We are recruiting on behalf of a well‑established, multidisciplinary consultancy for an exciting opportunity to join their growing planning team based in Tunbridge Wells.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Planner / Associate Planner, you'll work closely with colleagues, clients and external consultants to deliver planning solutions across a wide range of development projects. You'll be involved from the earliest stages of site appraisal and strategy through to planning applications, appeals, and the discharge of planning conditions and obligations. There will also be opportunities to contribute to Planning Appeals and Local Plan Examinations.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise clients on the development potential of land and buildings.
• Prepare and manage planning applications and planning appeals.
• Provide planning policy advice, research and technical guidance.
• Draft representations for Local Plan consultations and examinations.
• Identify strategic land and development opportunities.

To be successful, you will have:

• Previous experience within a planning role, ideally in consultancy, the development sector or local government.
• A relevant Planning qualification.
• RTPI membership or be working towards chartered status.
• A strong understanding of the UK planning system and planning policy.
• Excellent report writing skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively to deadlines.
• A proactive, enthusiastic and collaborative approach.
