Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR in York seeks a Senior Town Planner to join a leading multidisciplinary consultancy delivering town planning and landscape services to the residential sector. This permanent role offers hybrid working and clear development opportunities.

You will manage varied planning applications across residential, commercial, renewable energy and infrastructure; prepare statements and supporting documents; advise clients on policy and strategy; lead pre-application discussions; and support

Qualifications

• A degree or equivalent qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
• Chartered MRTPI or working towards chartership with substantial relevant experience.
• Experience within a planning consultancy, property development business or local authority planning environment.
• A strong understanding of UK planning policy, legislation and development management processes.
• Experience managing planning applications and coordinating projects from inception through to determination.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, persuasive planning reports and advice.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• A client-focused approach, sound commercial awareness and the confidence to work independently.
• The ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Managing a varied caseload of planning applications across residential, commercial, renewable energy and infrastructure sectors
• Preparing and coordinating planning statements, supporting documents and other technical planning submissions
• Advising clients on planning policy, development potential, site promotion and planning strategy
• Leading pre-application discussions and liaising with local planning authorities, statutory consultees and other stakeholders
• Managing planning appeals and contributing to appeal statements, hearings and public inquiries where required
• Identifying planning opportunities, assessing site constraints and developing practical solutions to complex planning issues

Duties for the role of Senior Town Planner:

• Managing a varied caseload of planning applications across residential, commercial, renewable energy and infrastructure sectors

Requirements for the role of Senior Town Planner:

• Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI), or be working towards chartership with substantial relevant experience
• Significant experience within a planning consultancy, property development business or local authority planning environment
• A strong understanding of UK planning policy, legislation and development management processes
• Experience managing planning applications and coordinating projects from inception through to determination
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, persuasive planning reports and advice
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
