Job summary

Carrington West in York is seeking an Associate Town Planner to join a leading planning consultancy on a hybrid basis (1-2 days in the office).

You will manage a varied portfolio of commercial projects, provide strategic planning advice, submit applications, liaise with authorities and clients, and support junior colleagues while growing the business.

Qualifications

• Chartered Town Planner status (MRTPI) or equivalent.
• Strong commercial planning experience in a consultancy environment.
• Experience managing planning projects and client relationships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Commercial awareness and pragmatic planning advice.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of commercial planning projects.

Carrington west are currently working with a well-established and highly regarded planning consultancy who are looking to appoint an Associate Town Planner to join their growing team in York.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Chartered Town Planner with strong commercial planning experience to take the next step in their career, working on a diverse range of interesting and high-profile commercial projects.

The Role

As an Associate Town Planner, you will be involved in a varied portfolio of commercial planning projects, providing strategic planning advice and managing projects from inception through to completion.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a range of commercial planning projects.
• Providing high-quality planning advice to clients.
• Preparing and submitting planning applications.
• Liaising with local planning authorities, clients, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Undertaking planning research and preparing planning appraisals.
• Supporting and mentoring more junior members of the team.
• Contributing to business development and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Representing clients at meetings and discussions with planning authorities and stakeholders.

About You

We are looking for a Chartered Town Planner with a strong understanding of the UK planning system and relevant experience within a consultancy environment.

Ideally, you will have:

• MRTPI / Chartered Town Planner status.
• Strong commercial planning experience.
• Experience managing planning projects and client relationships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to provide pragmatic planning advice.
• The confidence to work independently while also contributing effectively to a wider team.
• A proactive approach to career development and business growth.
