About the Role - Fairhurst is excited to announce that we are expanding our team in Newcastle and are on the lookout for a passionate Senior Town Planner. As a leading planning consultancy, we work with an impressive range of public and private sector clients, providing expert advice and securing planning permissions for high-profile development projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their planning needs and guide them through the planning process.
  • Lead and manage a vast range of projects and clients.
  • Prepare and submit planning applications, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
  • Work on Planning projects in various regimes, such as Marine, Environmental, Renewable and Major Infrastructure.
  • Engage with stakeholders, local authorities, and communities to advocate for projects.
  • Conduct thorough assessments to support Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).
  • Manage EIA projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to standards.
  • Stay current with planning legislation, policy updates, and best practices in the field.

What We’re Looking For

  • Relevant qualifications in planning and at least 3+ years’ experience
  • Preferably Chartered with the RTPI
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and project management.
  • Work and mentor junior staff
  • Experience in planning consultancy or EIA management is desirable
  • A commitment to sustainability and responsible development.
