NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is recruiting a Senior Retrieval Assistant to support the Retrieval Team in the tissue donation process, including retrievals from deceased donors across hospitals, hospices and funeral homes. A comprehensive 6‑month training programme is provided, with 37.5 hours per week and a 7‑day rota.

The role involves travel, overnight stays and driving NHSBT vehicles. You will join the Tissue and Eye Services team, contributing to saving lives through tissue restoration

Qualificações

• Competence with a PC and mainframe computer packages.
• Word processing, spreadsheet and data management experience.

Responsabilidades

• Assist Retrieval Team in tissue donation process, performing tissue retrievals from deceased donors in hospitals, hospices and funeral homes.
• Retrieve tissues (eye, bones, tendons, skin, heart) from deceased donors, assisting in reconstruction under supervision.
• Support and assist with maintenance of Surgical Tissue Donation programmes.
• Be a proactive member of the Tissue and Eye Services team.
• Integral to providing a 7 days a week tissue retrieval service.
• Ensure efficient working and accurate records.
• Role requires ability to drive a manual vehicle.
• Travel extensively, including overnight stays with prior notice.

Conhecimentos

Formação académica

HND or NVQ3 in healthcare/science

HND in Health Care Science or relevant science

NVQ level 3 in Health Care or Science

Equivalent science/health care experience
