Job summary

Talk Straight Limited is seeking a Third Line Support Engineer to join the busy Support Department. You will provide advanced technical support for network infrastructure, monitor performance, and act as the final escalation point for complex issues in a fast-paced ISP environment.

Hybrid working is offered with a preference for commuting to the Ilkley office 3 days per week. The role requires 3–5 years in a similar third line or NOC engineer position and strong knowledge of BGP, OSPF, MPLS,

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of core networking protocols and routing concepts.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving complex network incidents and RCA.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Proactively monitor the network, infrastructure, and customer services using advanced monitoring tools.
• Perform health checks on network systems and address issues before escalation.
• Serve as the top-level escalation point for critical issues.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues including routing, switching, VPNs, DNS, firewalls.
• Investigate and resolve service-impacting incidents and outages.
• Lead the response to major network incidents with coordination across teams and vendors.
• Manage incident resolution start to finish with RCA and preventive measures.
• Assist with configuration, deployment and optimization of core network devices.
• Support network changes, upgrades and migrations to minimize disruption.
• Monitor capacity and performance to identify bottlenecks and improvements.
