Job summary

Talk Straight Ltd's Schools Broadband division is seeking a highly skilled Third Line Support Engineer to join our busy support team in Ilkley. You will provide advanced technical support for network infrastructure, monitor performance, and lead incident resolution with internal teams and third‑party providers.

The role requires deep networking knowledge (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPNs) and experience in an ISP or telecom environment. Hybrid working with 3 days per week at Ilkley office is available.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and VPNs.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting enterprise-grade routers, firewalls (Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet), and load balancers.
• Proficiency with network monitoring tools.
• 3-5 years of experience in a similar third line or NOC engineer role in an ISP/telecommunications environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the network, infrastructure and customer services using advanced monitoring tools.
• Serve as top-level escalation point for critical issues and incidents.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues including routing, switching, VPNs, DNS, and firewalls.
• Lead responses to major network incidents and coordinate with vendors.
• Provide RCA and preventive actions post-incident and document updates for stakeholders.
