Job summary

Leonardo is seeking an experienced Thermal Engineer to contribute to Defence products across Land, Naval, Seeker and Space domains in the UK. You will conduct thermal analyses, define requirements, and advise on cooling strategies while collaborating with multi-discipline teams and customers.

The role involves development through design, testing and certification, with opportunities for travel to other UK sites and a hybrid working pattern at basildon/southampton/bristol sites.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
• Post-graduate experience in Thermal engineering is desirable.
• Proficiency in CFD tools (Ansys Icepak/Fluent) and hand calculations.
• Experience with environmental test methods and design verification.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thermal analysis of mechanical designs using CFD tools, hand calculations and simulations.
• Provide expert guidance on cooling strategies and thermal design improvements.
• Advise on materials and manufacturing techniques for thermal performance and integrity.
• Define thermal requirements and verify compliance across products.
• Drive innovation in thermal design and introduce new methodologies.
• Support product development through design, testing and certification phases.
• Deliver thermal solutions on time and within budget, document results for peer reviews.
• Develop technical documentation for stage/gate approvals and team knowledge.
