Job summary

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Senior Operating Department Practitioner/Senior Theatre Nurse – Band 6 to join the Princess Anne Day Surgery and Endoscopy Unit, Stroud General Hospital. The role blends hands-on patient care with leadership, coordination and support for the theatre team.

You will work across scrub and anaesthetics/recovery, with dual competence desirable, supporting theatre lists and staff development.

Qualifications

• Competence in at least one theatre area (scrub or anaesthetics/recovery) is essential.
• Dual competence across scrub and anaesthetics/recovery is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate theatre activity, staffing and skill mix.
• Ensure safe, efficient list running and effective theatre capacity use.
• Provide visible clinical leadership and support for colleagues and learners.
• Contribute to appraisal, education, governance and quality improvement.
