Job summary

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Band 6 Scrub Practitioner in the Theatres department for general surgery, with opportunities across the Surgical Centre at St Albans City Hospital. The role emphasises leadership, complex decision-making and rotational development within a multidisciplinary team.

We welcome applicants with NMC/HCPC registration, post-registration education in theatre practice, and a commitment to ongoing CPD.

Qualifications

• First level registration with the NMC or HCPC.
• Post-registration education programme related to speciality.
• Evidence of professional development.
• Working towards a degree.
• ILS/ALS.
• Mentorship course or equivalent.
• Substantive scrub experience at Band 5 level.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for the management and organisation of the operative list and clinical care.
• Be responsible for the efficient communication of changes within the operating department to all members of the multidisciplinary theatre team.
• Undertake the safe and efficient transfer of patients to other hospitals.
• Demonstrate clear leadership qualities in order to perform day to day managerial tasks, including allocation of staff etc.
