Job summary

Circle Health Group in West Sussex is seeking a Senior Theatre Practitioner to join the Theatres department at Goring Hall Hospital. 37.5 hours per week, full-time, with a flexible shift pattern.

You will scrub orthopaedic procedures, prepare theatres and equipment, support anaesthetic teams, supervise juniors and help manage lists and stock. Experience in perioperative orthopaedics and private healthcare settings is essential.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) with registration.
• Significant perioperative experience with orthopaedic surgery.
• Proven ability to scrub for wide range of orthopaedic procedures, including complex cases.
• Experience in both scrub and anaesthetics desirable.
• Mentorship or teaching qualification is beneficial.
• ILS/ALS certification.
• Familiarity with private healthcare processes, scheduling and implant stock systems.

Responsibilities

• Act as the senior scrub for orthopaedic procedures including joint replacements and spinal surgeries.
• Prepare and handle specialist instrumentation and equipment per guidance and protocols.
• Provide skilled assistance to surgical and anaesthetic teams and adapt to changes during procedures.
• Lead theatre preparation, coordinate lists, and ensure equipment, staff and resources are in place.
• Support Theatre Manager with team briefings, scheduling and stock control.
• Supervise junior practitioners, ODPs and healthcare assistants with clinical guidance.
