The Rail Engineering Projects Testing and Commissioning Team is growing and eager to adopt modern systems and processes within a regulated environment. We seek a motivated person to manage principles testing across various projects, demonstrating the ability to work under pressure and use initiative. Excellent organization skills and communication with staff at all levels are essential. Extensive experience and knowledge of signalling basics and compliance testing are required. Reporting to the Testing and Commissioning Engineer (Principles), the role involves both office-based and site-based work, with potential for extended stays and unsocial hours. A full UK driving license is required.

Key Responsibilities

1. Take overall responsibility for fundamentals testing and commissioning of signalling systems for major projects.
2. Must hold NR CofC and IRSE License-Tester in Charge and Functional Tester IRSE License 1.3.190 / 1.3.170 or have held them recently.
3. Identify resource needs, ensure staff are briefed, and promote staff development. Deputize for the Testing & Commissioning Engineer (Principles).
4. Report testing status to T&CE and project teams, ensuring adherence to standards and procedures.
5. Manage principles testing activities to meet contractual and safety requirements.
6. Prepare and review bids for testing tasks, contributing to process improvements.

Requirements

1. Experience in railway signalling testing/commissioning; principles and functional testing licenses; thorough knowledge of Network Rail Signal Works Testing Handbook.
2. Knowledge of fundamentals testing requirements.
3. Significant railway signalling experience, especially with Computer Based Interlocking schemes; familiarity with NWR standards; strong personnel management and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure.
4. Willingness to support project needs flexibly; capable of contributing to team development.
