Job summary

SR2, a growing UK defence engineering business, is seeking a hands-on Test Engineer to help build the test and development capability for high-performance electrical systems.

You will decide what needs testing, how to measure it and what equipment is required, working closely with design engineers. The initial focus is on power electronics and electric drives, with opportunities to broaden into motor characterization and broader product verification.

Qualifications

• Hands-on test experience in power electronics/electric drives or related high-power systems.
• Electrical measurement using oscilloscopes, current probes, power analysers, or DAQ equipment.
• Ability to analyse test data and translate results into engineering decisions.
• Experience building or modifying test rigs and instrumentation; comfortable in a lab environment.
• Familiarity with test automation using Python, LabVIEW or similar.

• Define and implement the test capability for high-performance electrical systems.
• Decide what needs testing, how to measure it and what equipment is required.
• Work closely with design engineers to use test data to influence hardware iterations.
• Broaden testing focus from power electronics to motor characterization and broader verification as capability grows.
