Capgemini in London is seeking a Senior Test Automation Engineer specializing in Kafka and API testing. You will design and maintain automation across APIs, microservices and event-driven platforms within an Agile team, ensuring quality through shift-left practices and CI/CD.

Youll build Kafka testing frameworks, validate contracts with JSON Schema/AJV, and deliver clear test reporting with Allure. Collaboration with developers to promote TDD/BDD is essential.

• Strong hands-on experience in test automation across APIs, microservices, distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
• Proficiency with Jest, TypeScript, Playwright, JUnit and Gradle.
• Experience testing Apache Kafka including topic seeding, lag monitoring, replay and resilience.
• Expertise in contract testing, API validation, JSON Schema and AJV.
• Experience with CI/CD, quality gates, reporting and release validation.
• Understanding of TDD, BDD, mocking and shift-left quality engineering.
• Familiarity with Java and Spring Boot applications to support test automation.
• Experience with Docker, Docker Compose and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience testing OPA Rego policy engines and IAM testing frameworks.
• Exposure to regulated environments (Banking/FS/Insurance/Public Sector).

Job Title: Senior Test Automation Engineer (Kafka and API Testing)

Location: London

About the Job you are considering:

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Automation Engineer to design build and maintain automated testing solutions that validate platform behavior across APIs event driven architecture’s identity and access management policy decision engines and end-to-end user journeys. This is a handson engineering role embedded within an Agile delivery team with responsibility for driving quality through automation shiftleft testing and continuous integration practices.

The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your Role:

• Design develop and maintain robust API contract integration end-to-end performance and resilience testing frameworks
• Develop automated test suites using Jest TypeScript JUnit Gradle and Playwright
• Build and maintain Kafka testing frameworks to validate event streams consumer behavior lag management replay scenarios and idempotent processing
• Validate event contracts and payloads using JSON Schema AJV and contract testing methodologies
• Design and execute performance load and scalability tests for policy evaluation services and event ingestion platforms
• Automate testing for identity authentication authorization token lifecycle revocation and fail closed security scenarios
• Integrate automation suites into GitLab CICD pipelines ensuring quality gates automated reporting and deployment readiness checks
• Create and maintain clear test reporting using Allure or equivalent reporting frameworks
• Collaborate closely with developers to promote TDD BDD specification by example and defect prevention practices
• Support continuous improvement of testability observability and quality engineering standards across the platform

Your Skills:

• Strong handson experience in test automation engineering across APIs microservices distributed systems and event driven architectures
• Proficiency with Jest TypeScript Playwright JUnit and Gradle
• Practical experience testing Apache Kafka including topic seeding asynchronous validation lag monitoring replay testing and resilience scenarios
• Expertise in contract testing API validation JSON Schema and AJV
• Experience conducting performance load and resilience testing for lowlatency and high throughput systems
• Strong knowledge of CICD quality gates automated test reporting test data management and release validation
• Understanding of TDD BDD mocking frameworks specification by example and shiftleft quality engineering
• Familiarity with Java and Spring Boot applications to support test automation and service validation
• Experience with Docker Docker Compose and GitLab CICD pipelines
• Handson experience using AIassisted engineering tools such as Claude Code GitHub Copilot or similar platforms to accelerate test creation and validation.
• Experience testing OPARego policy engines and authorization decision services
• Knowledge of OAuth 20 OpenID Connect OIDC Ping Identity LDAP and IAM testing frameworks
• Experience with Allure reporting quality dashboards and test trend analysis
• Familiarity with service mesh architectures API gateways mTLS certificate management and securityfocused testing
• Exposure to highly regulated environments such as Banking Financial Services Insurance or Public Sector organizations'.
