Job description

About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Tenancy Sustainment Worker to join our Help to Rent Glasgow programme. This is a practical, people-focused leadership role for someone who understands housing, tenancy sustainment and the difference a stable home can make.

Right There has spent 200 years making sure that fewer people in Scotland end up homeless and fewer families fall apart. Last year alone, almost 4,000 people got the support they needed to stay in their homes and stay close to the people they love.

In this role, you will help people moving through the homelessness pathway access and sustain private rented accommodation. You will assess referrals, support people to overcome financial barriers such as deposits, build strong relationships with landlords and partners, and help make sure tenants receive the right support at the right time.

You will also provide day-to-day guidance, supervision and support to Tenancy Sustainment Workers, helping the team deliver consistent, high-quality and person-centred support.

Your role
  • Lead and support the delivery of tenancy sustainment activity across the Help to Rent service.
  • Receive, assess and progress referrals from Glasgow City Council's Housing Options team and other linked homelessness services.
  • Support people to access suitable private rented accommodation, including arranging and monitoring deposit bonds and repayment plans.
  • Provide practical guidance around housing options, benefits, rent accounts, arrears and tenancy responsibilities.
  • Build trusted relationships with tenants, landlords, letting agents, local authority teams, support providers and colleagues across Right There.
  • Carry out regular property and tenant visits, identify risks early and plan practical next steps.
  • Coach, guide and supervise team members, helping them feel confident, supported and clear about service standards.
  • Contribute to service development, reporting, partnership working and continuous improvement.
What you bring
  • Experience in housing management, tenancy sustainment, homelessness support, social care, advice work or a related community-based service.
  • Understanding of private rented sector, including relevant legislation, policies and good practice.
  • Confidence in building positive relationships with tenants, landlords, letting agents, colleagues and partner organisations.
  • Good judgement, organisation and the ability to balance competing priorities while keeping people's needs at the centre.
  • Experience of supporting, supervising, coaching or guiding colleagues, or readiness to develop further in this area.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to keep accurate records and contribute to reports.
  • A compassionate, respectful and practical approach to supporting people who may be experiencing homelessness, poverty, trauma or other difficult circumstances.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes, with appropriate business insurance.
Our offer
  • The post holder will report to the Housing Services Manager
  • Your normal working hours are 35 per week, worked Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am and 5pm, depending on the needs of the service, with 1-hour unpaid break
  • Your usual place of work is Rosemount Business Park, 141-145 Charles Street, Unit E3, Glasgow, G21 2QA. You are also required to work in the local community and you will be paid travel expenses from your usual place of work for appointments undertaken in the course of your duties.
  • Annual leave entitlement of 210 hours holiday (equivalent to 6 weeks) pro rata per year in the first year rising to 280 hours (equivalent to 8 weeks) pro rata per year in the second. This includes public holidays
  • You will be automatically enrolled into the People's Pension provided you meet the auto-enrolment criteria
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Option to purchase and sell annual leave
