Job summary

Kier Group plc in the UK is seeking a Senior Temporary Works Engineer to join our civil, structural and geotechnical team across multiple UK locations. The role offers agile working with up to 1-2 days from home per week.

You will lead temporary works design and management across projects, ensure compliance with standards, and develop yourself and the team while contributing to process improvements in a top-25 engineering consultancy.

Qualifications

• Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or working toward Chartered Engineer status (CEng).
• Strong grounding in civil, structural and/or geotechnical engineering principles.
• Experience with temporary works design and/or management.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills for collaborative teams.

Responsibilities

• Producing, checking and reviewing design outputs such as calculations, sketches, drawings, 3D models, reports and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with CDM, SHE procedures and QA processes.
• Acting as Project Lead for multiple projects, managing technical scope, programme, budget and relationships with preconstruction and construction teams, from bid through to delivery.
• Developing yourself, other individuals and the wider team, contributing to the continuous improvement of processes and systems, enabling the business to adapt to current and future challenges.

Senior Temporary Works Engineer

We're looking for civil, structural and/or geotechnical engineers to join our team in various locations around the UK. Locations: Birmingham / Bristol / Cambridge / Cardiff / Glasgow / Leeds / Liverpool / London / Manchester / Newcastle / Norwich / Plymouth. Agile working, with up to 1-2 days per week from home if desired.

Hours: 40 hours per week flexibility on hours available if desired. Salary: Starting from £50k per annum. Sector: Working across all sectors of the built environment.

Main responsibilities

Requirements

• Practically-minded, with a strong grounding in civil, structural and/or geotechnical engineering principles and knowledge of applicable design standards.
• Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or working towards Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with an equivalent level of experience.
• Enjoy applying first principles thinking to real-world construction challenges, combining a keen eye for detail with sound engineering judgement, a focus on safety, buildability, sustainability and a flair for innovation and creative problem-solving.
• Have experience of temporary works design and/or management, or other practical construction experience.
• Have strong organisational and communication skills, and enjoy working as part of collaborative teams.
