Job summary

Kier Group plc in the UK is seeking a Senior Temporary Works Engineer to join our civil, structural and geotechnical teams across multiple locations.

Candidates will develop and review temporary works design, lead projects from bid to delivery, and ensure compliance with CDM, SHE and QA processes.\n\nYou will work in a collaborative, safety-first environment with flexible agile working up to two days from home, a 40-hour week, and opportunities to develop with a top-25 engineering

Qualifications

  • Practical grounding in civil, structural and/or geotechnical engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of applicable design standards.
  • IEng or working towards CEng with equivalent experience.
  • Experience in temporary works design and/or management.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Interest in joining a top-25 engineering consultancy.

Responsibilities

  • Producing, checking and reviewing design outputs such as calculations, sketches, drawings, 3D models, reports and risk assessments.
  • Acting as Project Lead for multiple projects, managing technical scope, programme, budget and relationships with preconstruction and construction teams, from bid through to delivery.
  • Developing yourself and the wider team, contributing to continuous improvement of processes and systems.

Job description

Senior Temporary Works Engineer

We're looking for civil, structural and/or geotechnical engineers to join our team in various locations around the UK. Locations: Birmingham / Bristol / Cambridge / Cardiff / Glasgow / Leeds / Liverpool / London / Manchester / Newcastle / Norwich / Plymouth. Agile working, with up to 1-2 days per week from home if desired.

Hours: 40 hours per week flexibility on hours available if desired. Salary: Starting from £50k per annum. Sector: Working across all sectors of the built environment.

Main responsibilities
  • Producing, checking and reviewing design outputs such as calculations, sketches, drawings, 3D models, reports and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with CDM, SHE procedures and QA processes.
  • Acting as Project Lead for multiple projects, managing technical scope, programme, budget and relationships with preconstruction and construction teams, from bid through to delivery.
  • Developing yourself, other individuals and the wider team, contributing to the continuous improvement of processes and systems, enabling the business to adapt to current and future challenges.

Requirements
  • Practically-minded, with a strong grounding in civil, structural and/or geotechnical engineering principles and knowledge of applicable design standards.
  • Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or working towards Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with an equivalent level of experience.
  • Enjoy applying first principles thinking to real-world construction challenges, combining a keen eye for detail with sound engineering judgement, a focus on safety, buildability, sustainability and a flair for innovation and creative problem-solving.
  • Have experience of temporary works design and/or management, or other practical construction experience.
  • Have strong organisational and communication skills, and enjoy working as part of collaborative teams.
